The Port of Gothenburg works locally, regionally and globally with environmental matters by participating in different networks, projects and organisations. Together with our customers we also develop collaboration concepts, in order to improve the environmental as well as the commercial benefits.

CLIMATE INITIATIVE

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the World Ports Climate Initiative (WPCI) is to:
  • raise awareness in the port and maritime community of need for action;
  • initiate studies, strategies and actions to reduce GHG emissions and improve air quality;
  • provide a platform for the maritime port sector for the exchange of information thereon; and
  • make available information on the effects of climate change on the maritime port environment and measures for its mitigatio.

SIX LEAD PROJECTS
WPCI currently counts six projects which respectively deal with greenhouse gas emissions and air quality. The current projects are: Carbon Footprinting, Environmental Ship Index, Onshore Power Supply, Intermodal Transport, Lease Agreement Template and Cargo-handling Equipment.
