Two positive improvements regarding sludge receiving in the Port of Göteborg:
The Port of Gothenburg is receiving sludge water according to the Port Regulations of the Port of Gothenburg, see www.portgot.se Maritime, Rules and Regulations.
Notification of a discharge requirement shall be made to the port via VTMS to Gothenburg Port Control, according to Appendix X at the latest 24 hours before the discharge is intended to be carried out.

The second improvement is regarding the recieving sludge barge:
Stena Recycling, the Port's entrepreneur in charge of transporting and handling sludge barge "ALLEGRO" with sludge barge "TELL". | |

Tug boat assistance
In order to minimize the risk of damage to construction's of Gothenburg Port up on ship's arrival and departure shall pilot be used for all vessels when tug boat assistance is needed. A pilot embarks/disembark just before arrival/departure and has a key role to establish a safe cooperation between vessel/tug boat.
Captains with exemption licence for the use of tug boat are excluded from this regulation. | |

| Tankers of 30,000 deadweight tons or more will be required to use at least two tugs when berthing at or leaving the Torshamnen crude oil jetty at Gothenburg (berths Nos 800, 801). The rule will apply to empty as well as laden vessels since this is a safety measure vis-à-vis port infrastructure. Compulsary use of Boatmen
