QUALITY POLICY

Through an ongoing process of improvement we will perform all the services expected of the port with the assumed or agreed level of quality and in doing anticipate customer demands.

For us this means:

  • Maintaining an active interface with our customers and other parties in order to develop a competitive customer service offering.
  • Keeping the customer firmly in focus, gaining an insight into the customer's business, providing the correct service as agreed and offering safe, rapid handling.
  • Being transparent in the way we communicate our objectives and key figures.
  • Developing leadership and empowerment and the same time clarifying roles, responsibility and authority in order to establish the right conditions.
  • Thinking in terms of one Port of Gothenburg where maintaining a holistic view, reaching factually based decisions and ensuring ongoing improvement are the guiding principles.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

We will be an environmentally strong link in the logistics chain.

This means that we will:
  • Use our resources efficiently, reduce noise and emissions to air, land and water, in order to promote long-term sustainable development.
  • Implement an efficient environmental management system according to ISO 14001, in order to guide and improve our environmental efforts.
  • Inform every employee about environmental issues, and encourage them to actively consider the environment in their daily work.
  • Keep ourselves informed of, and in compliance with, relevant environmental legislation.
  • Prevent environmental accidents and be well prepared to limit the effects of an accident.
  • Consider environmental consequences seriously from a long term perspective when making decisions, and choose those solutions that are best for the environment whenever it is economically reasonable.
  • Encourage, assist, and make it easier for customers, suppliers, and other parties to work in accordance with our environmental policy.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT POLICY

Through preventive measures we will develop a safe, secure workplace by pursuing a systematic working environment programme on all levels.

This means, among other things, that:
  • In our change and development processes we take particular account of working environment issues,
  • the working environment programme is implemented through co-operation between employer and employees,
  • each employee has personal responsibility for his/her health and the health of others even if ultimate responsibility rests with the employer,
  • we provide everyone with the opportunity to be involved in shaping their own working situation and their own workplace."

Vision
It is the vision of the executive management that no one will come to any harm or become ill as a result of working at the Port of Gothenburg.

PURCHASING POLICY

As we operate in an environment characterised by international competition, it is vitally important that we maintain control over our costs for goods and services purchased as well as our internal purchasing costs.

We should therefore always observe the following:
  • Work according to the watchwords objectivity and business-mindedness.
  • Consciously look for solutions and suppliers that can reduce our total costs without deviating from our demands regarding quality, environment and working environment.
  • Strive to establish long-term, trusting relationships with suppliers as well as contractors or specialists in order to continuously develop the most cost-effective solutions.
  • To the greatest possible extent utilise the agreements that have been entered into within the company or to which we have access within the municipal authority.
  • Through correct, competent, uniform conduct, with respect for prevailing laws and ordinances, utilise effectively our collective purchasing power.

HUMAN RESORCES POLICY

Our Human Resources Policy comprises three fundamental elements that point the way forward in all the work done within the Port of Gothenburg:

Relationships
We should respect each other, demonstrate good judgment and assume responsibility for relationships.

Broad-mindedness
We must be far-sighted in order to co-operate and to take account of new opportunities and ideas.

Development
We must have the courage to re-examine and have the will to develop in order to achieve our objectives.
